  • I’ve got to keep Vegas 11 for compatibility with previous projects, might install Vegas 12 first then the plugins and see how that goes…

  • Hi Graham,
thanks for the tips, I have been looking to get the OFX versions of the Newblue plugin, the FilmConvert plugin is OFX, I doubt that there’s a way to disable certain plugins in Vegas, I think I’ll try to uninstall Newblue and reinstall FilmConvert to see if it works.

  • Hi Adam,
thanks for the suggestion, I’ve looked at the tutorial which I could follow but I was wondering if there was something basic that I could start with, like a window frosting and then a thin layer of ice accumulates, seen many tutorials for AfterEffects but I personally find it easier to do 3D in C4D

  • Hi John,
Yeah this copy of the BCC8 trial I got doesn’t ask for uninstall of previous versions first (its v8.0.1). Back when I first tried BCC7 and after I purchased my copy, I just installed it over the trial without uninstalling and that worked fine, I’ve made sure that the BCC8 trial works on another computer, will try again later in the week, thanks,

  • Hi Steve,
Oh well, I’ll try uninstall BCC7 first then install BCC8 (I know the copy of the BCC8 trial I have is working), if that doesn’t work then I’ll try your suggestion, since I know how to get BCC7 back to its working state. I got startled when I saw the dreaded DLL and StackHash errors. It’s just that Vegas 11 has been working without major problems for a little more than a year since I installed BCC7 and it got along with other older plugins, does take some commitment and time for fresh installs, but hopefully this turns out well. Thanks again Steve,

  • Glad you found a way around it, AVC(H264) is a delivery/capture format (e.g. delivering on Youtube, recording footage on digital camcorders nowadays), simply said it only records differences in movement and not full frames, Vegas will have to take more time to decode the file in order to regenerate the frames from the source AVC video, but I’ve think compatibility has improved in Vegas 12 in handling such files.

Shadowplay may have used a variant of AVC(H264) that was optimised for capturing, though Vegas could open the MP4s it makes, it may not behave properly because it’s not entirely compatible with it.

    Happy editing,

  • [John Rofrano] ” This is why if you broadcast a video with out of range values the picture may roll or have other interference like audio buzzing when fading to white because these signals are being stepped on by the video signal.”
Right, haven’t seen these symptoms personally, but I mean NTSC and PAL have been around a long time, they’re both composite video systems with very limited bandwidth where sound and video signals overlap each other, and like Norman said the old analog standards lurk with us today, even people still refer to NTSC and PAL in HDTV considering that HDTV is 1080 lines, just the framerate is the main characteristic that is retained. For once I thought we had 16 million colors on hand…

  • Ren,
Have you installed any codec pack like K-Lite on your system? Codec packs have been known on the forums to mess with Vegas, not so much for Vegas 12 though some users wouldn’t recommend installing them. Not all H264 encoded videos work with Vegas, you might need some conversion – try converting affected segments of the source footage to an editing format such as DV AVI or MJPEG with Avidemux.

  • So I guess the sRGB range really is just a guide that broadcasters, editors and other users adhere to, since it is specified within limits of the computer RGB scope. Is it probable that out-of-range occurrences are due to encoding processes of codecs, like lossy compression? I doubt that Vegas converted sRGB to computer RGB levels upon import of the H264 footage, as the original black levels were retained.
