I don’t know. I only have the ADVC-300 but it doesn’t have problems with Macrovision-protected media.”

That’s alright then. Thanks for the information that you have given, much appreciated. Cheers.

  • Thanks for the insight, all three boards have FireWire/IEEE1394 inputs but I’m putting money on it that I would have to buy a separate FireWire card anyway.

  • Hi John,
Thanks for the confirmation. I have heard you mention about your Canoupus ADVC-300 before, I have been going on a search for one myself too, but getting it shipped across the globe is prohibitive for me. There were one or two ADVC-100s and ADVC-55s before but I wasn’t too sure if it worked like the ADVC-300. Would the ADVC-55 or ADVC-100 perform dual-way conversion like your ADVC-300? Also, do you know if there are cards that can do the same thing as the ADVC range?

I hope the Canopus DVStorm isn’t shot as I have tried installing that card on different Windows XP configurations and the drivers wouldn’t install properly. I probably have to find a configuration from the “Pentium 4” era to make it work.

    Hi John,
I’ve opened an old Vegas 12 project on the new Vegas 12 installation and it listed missing plugins identifying properly BCC (Uprez) and Twixtor.

  • Hi Adam, I was thinking that too, hopefully that won’t slow the computer too much, I’m having a look at Nitroblast at the moment.

  • Hi Brian, I’ve tried adding a compositing tag with your mentioned settings to my fracture group but it doesn’t seem to work in my case, perhaps the pieces created by Xplode are already separated far enough to see transparency and refraction? Anyway, I’ll have a look at Thrausi, thanks.

  • Guess it’s time for me to reinstall Windows…

  • Hi Steve,

PI worked fine with and without GPU. Other than “kernelbase.dll” I haven’t seen any GPU-related or any other faulting modules,

  • Hi Graham,
I have Dynamic RAM Preview set to 1024MB usually, the PI OFX plugin has been working along fine with that setting.
It’s a personal thing – I’m used to the OFX plugin, probably easier for me to composite on the background, perhaps I should try Standalone then. I really have no idea what would cause PI to misbehave, besides a corrupt user profile, commonly associated with kernelbase.dll.
    Thanks for the suggestions,

EDIT: When rendering in Standalone, how would one properly render with a pre-multiplied alpha channel?

  • Thanks for helping anyway,

EDIT: Don’t worry, I got it working after a restart,
