  • Does YouTube still support SCC formatting and positioning?

Posted by Rick Anvican on August 4, 2014 at 5:45 am

    Hi all,
I’m trying to upload a video to YouTube with accompanying closed captioning (SCC),
the captions were edited in Sony Vegas and exported via render as SCC, after uploading
the SCC file, YouTube gave a warning –

“This transcript may contain additional formatting that can get lost if overwritten.”

The positioning and formatting parameters were lost and it was required for the specific
video. Can someone please confirm if SCC positioning and formatting is still accepted?
If otherwise, are there any other formats which YouTube supports at least in terms of
    positioning?
    Thanks in advance,

Rick, I don’t know if THIS is part of the already report CC issues for VP13. According to other users they are having CC issues with the latest Build373 too.

If you have VP12 loaded try a test sample to verify. If you DO then create/make an official TICKET to SCS.

    Hi Graham,

I tried to use Subtitle-Edit just now exactly as according to this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVTEwJ9Ckiw
exporting in the EBU-stl format but YouTube returned the same message,
I am using Vegas 12 at the moment and it does come up with the message.

I’ve tried on different computers and it doesn’t seem to work.
