The old BRU format on some old tapes I had is reversed engineered and can be recovered. I posted on another thread here also. See this website, Dmitry recovered some bru tapes for me. He has several blogs on the subject. Some SGI people used BRU.

BRU ( tolis group and OWC ) was mentioned in this old thread.
Dmitry at this site below recovered BRU tapes for me at a very reasonable cost. And he has some software on sourceforge. The BRU format was also used some by Silicon Graphics I guess. I had DDS3 tapes and older QIC tapes, some of which have deteriorated too far.
If you still have a tape drive you can use the linux dd command to get the raw tape data, or just send the physical tape to him.
OWC didn’t respond to me either. The BRU format has been sufficiently reverse engineered.
