thanks for the link, Walt!
that could be useful.
Still sniffin around the Metadata Window, figuring out how AE’s metadata workflow operates.

this is a pretty cold thread, but just wanted to post this here:
“After Effects writes startTimecode and altTimecode values into XMP metadata. You can view these values in the Start Timecode and Alternate Timecode fields in the Dynamic Media schema in the Metadata panel.”
Under Window>Metadata>Dynamic Media, there’s an Alternate Timecode field that I’m pretty sure would have solved this problem.
Many months too late to the party, i guess.

thanks for the response, Dave!
hmmm. I thought making sure I kept “Include Source XMP Metadata” unchecked would keep all metadata from being added to my files. After I do this the Timecode Track is still there however.
If anybody is wondering, my source footage has no Timecode info, and my final outputs are currently QT Photo-Jpeg, and .mp4. CS5 is updated to 10.0.1.19, on Win7 64bit.
Still searching for answers…

yeah i bet that black shirt has a bit of noise on it!
Craig- are you using keylight? it applies a spill suppression automatically that sometimes i just turn off and do some alternate color correcting to avoid that noise problem.
if you turn View to Intermediate Result, does the noise go away?

It’s a net renderer that’s a little smarter than manually setting up an AE Watch Folder. I’m playing around with it, but wanted to hear any Cow User Testimonials!

Walter- thanks for the feedback
I totally agree with everything you said- Google Docs spreadsheet is great tool for multiple individuals to update the status of every shot. And yes, as project manager you have to keep tabs to make sure everybody is updating the projects they own.
I’ll look around for these proxy scripts you were mentioning. Maybe that will appease my coworkers who look towards automation as a solution to all.
And yes, rendering to the farm over the network would be slow. I guess since they have a farm i was thinking of some way to use it.
Thanks for the reality check.

David-
Thx for the post! Yeah, this feature in Light Sweep has been bugging me this time around.
Went with the render-intensive workaround. Two almost identical comps, one having all Light edge controls on all layers set to 0. this comp overlaps the original, and is masked just to cover the edge of frame.
I actually used that masked solid trick until recently because I didn’t know better!
thanks again

arg- i was afraid you were going to say this. Thanks, Stuart! I just wish there was a metadata tag that would have this info.

I think I found the culprit.
the road had an alpha matte applied to it in photoshop- when I merged layers in the photoshop doc, the intesecting problem i was having in AE disappeared.
guh.
there went a good part of the workday.
Thanks guys for the replies!
