Hello Michael. Is it limited to quick time wrap? PC/Adobe based editing system. Premiere might actually have QT included in its codecs. If not, its no big step to purchase QT Pro.

    Thanks

Hi Armando. Unfortunetly I am painted in the same corner as I have a Matrox MX02 mini, and so, no SDI. I will take a serious look at the Convergent Design Nano, which records XDCAM 522 4:2:2.

    Thanks

I have an MXO2 also. Quality is important to me, especially when it comes to archiving any footage. So SxS transfer to my computer will be 4:2:2. Out of curiosity, when will you see the major advantages of 4:2:2 color space vs 4:2:0? Are compositing and keying the areas of main benefit? The MXO2 has an HDMI input also, but the EX-1 does not have an HDMI port, does it?
On a side note, the Perseid meteor showers willl be happening tonight. IF you have a clear sky, it might be a good night to do some time lapse footage.

    Thanks

Hi Vince. Thanks for the response. Could it be an Adobe issue if I was able to write to re-writtable Blu-ray discs?

    May 14, 2009 at 11:55 am in reply to: EX-1 hand-held solutions

Thanks for all of the feedback! I can understand how any device can alter accessibility to controls on a short form camera to a degree. Since this is a “run and gun” solution for me, mobility and flexibility were most important. Also, ease of set-up. I don’t do videography as my main “day-job”, so I am often arriving in a nick of time.
I ended up purchasing a Anton Bauer ANEGRIPZ EgripZ Handheld Camera Support that was suggested (Reviews were also very good on the B & H site), and a no frills monopod, Manfrotto by Bogen Imaging BO559B 559B Video Monopod.

    Thanks again!

Hi Nik. I cannot help you on that topic, but did want to say welcome, and mention that I also own an EX-1 and work off of an Axio system integrated with Adobe Master’s suite.

Hi Greg. Thanks for the feedback. Today is a bright, sunny day, so I may just try that. As fate would have it, I will be “filming” in about an hour. Appreciate the feedback. Atleast I have a good base to work from between your advise and John’s.

Thanks John, I think I understand. In terms of typical shooting for a sporting event, if you wanted to provide an ability for the coach to scrub through the video, you would either have somewhat blurry still frames if quick motion was present, or you would get somewhat clear still frames and video that has a strobing quality to a degree. Is there any happpy medium between? I know, the best way is to experiment.

March 15, 2006 at 5:44 pm in reply to: Encore DVD 2.0 & Disc space

David, this posting is useful. I ran into the same problem and actually copied my entire folder onto my video drive instead of where I mistakenly set it by default, my system drive. I did not see a default path either, which would allow me to always select a given drive for rendering projects. Encore on the surface resembles the other Adobe products, but things seem a little off Adobe standard when you use it. Not a bad thing, but harder to figure out in some matters.

March 13, 2006 at 3:54 pm in reply to: No file size difference after transcoding

Thanks Jeff. I don’t know what caused my original problem, but I do know that my re-encoded footage from the PP timeline, encoded with the automatic setting worked and worked well. I did not think 1 hr 45 min. would look this good as it did on a single layer dvd. If I have not used up my quota of questions, in the following scenario, if I encode a large video file with the automatic setting, which ideally would fit to the 4.38 gig or whatever for a single layer DVD, then add assets (audio/video/stills, whatever) that bump it over the 4.38 gig, would I have to revert back to original and re-encode everything to assure that everything will fit on the dvd? I added a short audio clip to a few menus after encoding, and although Encore gave me the warning that my project was to big after encoding the audio to dolby (but not re-encoding the video). I ignored the warning and proceeded to cut the dvd’s. The little bit of audio only kicked the total up to 4.41 gig. Just wondering in cases with larger assets.

    THanks
