April 6, 2017 at 5:34 am in reply to: Trying to export stereo .Wav from PP. it gives me dual mono.I am in front of my machine. Under sequence Settings you can choose multichannel, but on wav export I only see a choice of mono or stereo. I made a test sequence (multichannel, 5 audio tracks) and exported…it was short and came out stereo. THIS IS JUST A GUESS, BUT MAYBE YOUR MACHINE IS CONFUSED, LOL (YEAH, WE WILL BLAME THE MACHINE)
Actually my guess is that your sequence is multichannel, and even though you are selecting stereo, it is outputting 2 channel.
The nested sequence may work, make sure new sequence you create is stereo. It’s all conjecture, as I cannot seem to duplicate issue.
I was taking screen shots to do a write-up similar to this, then I googled something to be sure…and found this, so I will save my time, delete my screenshots, and just share it. Good Luck!

April 6, 2017 at 3:26 am in reply to: Trying to export stereo .Wav from PP. it gives me dual mono.I have had a similar issue. So wav export settings say stereo? If it is really an error of software a quick work around might be turn off all video layers, or add a layer of pure black above them, then export a video with uncompressed audio in the bit and sample rate you want. Then bring that clip into a new project and export a wav with the exact settings, or open clip as audio in audition and save as wav. If your are on Mac try an aiff export then convert to wav. Just spit balling here as I am on a train and not in front of my machine. But if smaller segs work, as you say, it may just be a software fluke. Also check the sequence settings, could they throw off export mix settings? I do t see how. It jist occured to me, try nesting the sequence into a new one. THAT Usually PUTS the audio on one stereo track, assuming sequences are set to stero audio, then export from that. Just some ideas for workarounds you could try. Good luck.

April 6, 2017 at 3:11 am in reply to: Problem Uploading Videos exported from Premiere to youtube and vimeoThanks. I tried Firefox and Safari before I made this post. I will try Chrome. I do think perhaps it is mt internet….or something wierd in settings…because it happened on vimeo as well. File looks like it is uploading SUPER fast, then stops at like 56% for a LONG time. Once it says uploaded, there are all kinds of errors. Sierra did an OS update today just as I was leaving. I am going to be optomistic and believe all will be well in the morning. At least that will help me sleep a little better. LOL

April 5, 2017 at 5:53 pm in reply to: Problem Uploading Videos exported from Premiere to youtube and vimeoLOL. I have tried DOZENS of times and tested many compression settings.
I tried a file that I compressed back in December that uploaded fine with no hitches back then, sort of a test to see if something in my software got corrupted. Same problem. The file hangs, then finishes, and after processing there are playback issues – frames freeze while audio continues, video and audio freeze then pick up later, video freezes and stops altogether. These are the general types of issues I have been having, not just on my December failed test upload. I am wondering if it could be my internet connection, but everything else works fine, I am online now, Dropbox syncs quickly. I uploaded to a client ftp at over 5MBps no problem. I just cant figure it out. It is really hindering workflow, as I use YouTube to share unlisted approval links to clients. They love it, no downloads, they can check product on their phone, etc. This is very frustrating.

November 26, 2016 at 9:12 pm in reply to: Color or Gamma/Brightness Shift in FCPX output…anyone else see this? No, because it happens across the board, no matter what is put in. As I said, it was first noticed by a client that sent me PhotoShop files, she noticed a color shift (that I now believe is a gamma shift) and that was back in FCP7. I did not use FCP for years after that, migrating to Adobe where I never have the problem. I feel so many don’t notice it because they grade their footage, so that would never match original anyway, and they perhaps don’t have clients so particular about logo colors. I never would have noticed if not for this.
I would ask a small favor of all. Create a simple graphic in Photoshop (actually, I have done it for you, so import it and do your own render tests). This image has a background of gray at 100, 100, 100 with three colored boxes, a red at 150, a blue at 150, and a green at 150. Use Photoshop info window to confirm this. I then output this via render in FCPX. When I chose save a still, and I did choose save PSD, the color is unaffected, yes, I put image into a timeline and saved from there. IT IS WORTH NOTING that in when I tried to tackle this issue in FCP 7 the only output I found unaffected was the uncompressed animation setting. I assume this is similar to a series of stills wrapped in a QT container. Then when I output the still as a one frame ProRes 422 .mov file, the shift occurs….this time “down.” The gray background drops to 88,88,88. red to 138,0,0 green to 0,138,0 and blue to 0,1,139. Open clip in Photoshop and use info window to confirm this. I also tried to export via compressor and turned “automatically adjust Gamma” off under QT Settings, it had zero effect.
Here are the images – COW would not let me upload PSD, but the JPEG colors stayed true.
Original, download and try some renders of your own.
DOWNLOAD IMAGE: colorboxesoriginal.jpgHere is that one frame pro res to download and compare: 10824_colortestfcpxpr422.mov.zip
Thanks for anything anyone does to explore this issue.

November 23, 2016 at 4:49 pm in reply to: Color or Gamma/Brightness Shift in FCPX output…anyone else see this?Thank you, but I am not sure what this is nor why the need for it. So, does this mean there is no way to click a setting in FCPX and undo this? Your response seems to indicate that this shift is known and indeed real. Is FCP forcing “broadcast” safe colors? Clipping highlights and boosting shadows?

November 21, 2016 at 6:35 pm in reply to: Color or Gamma/Brightness Shift in FCPX output…anyone else see this?I am not all that well versed in this. However, if you read my post thoroughly, the client noticed the color shift in their logo. It actually seems like a gamma or brightness shift. Look at my post carefully, I submit evidence…like in the youtube video where I compare the original clip to a premiere render and an FCPX render. The original and Premiere render match perfectly, and the FCPX render is always a bit brighter or “washed”. The client accepts work out of Adobe, but will NOT accept FCP renders as they see the difference in the colors of their logo. NO, I am virtually certain it is FCP. Premiere and AE renders open side by side in other viewers look identical to original source, FCP shows a shift.
HOWEVER – you say FCP is using a certain color space…can I choose that? Perhaps it is just defaulting to a space that causes the issue? If I can find the proper setting maybe I can avoid the issue. It is a better program for straight cutting, although I think the Premiere/AE combo beats it when heavy compositing is involved.
Thanks for any feedback.

December 8, 2015 at 3:11 pm in reply to: Do Different Sequence editing modes really Matter?30p, just for a web project.
I usually shoot 60i for broadcast. My real question is, will it effect my export? If I am in AVCHD, 420, but I export to a ProRes file for final preoject, do I lose that color space (Assuming the footage was shot 422, and it was there to start)? Or does premiere, AME work with the original material. And graphics, will they be reduced to 420. If so it would make sense to always edit in a 422 timeline. Also, What about all of the Higher XDCAM HD 422 codecs. That is wat the footage was shot in, so why does premiere choose AVC codecs?
Thanks,
