I’ve tried a new firewire, as well as a different firewire ported camera. The issue remains.

As I analyze the set up:
-Cameras both recognized by pc so computer and connection are ok.
-New firewire cable so connection is ok.
-Sony Vegas appears stable so software is ok.

I just don’t see where the problem could be.

Phil, thanks for the Windows suggestion. That’s about the only lead I have right now.

I activated the Legacy driver and the issue continues.

I also thought the camera firewire out port might be failing, but the computer recognizes it whenever it’s connected.

It’s not just Vegas that doesn’t recognize when a cam is connected (tried 2 different cams), HDV Split does the same thing.

    This issue makes no sense.

The camera shows up on the pc’s device list. Every piece of the set up looks to be in good working condition.

Could it be the software? Sony Vegas doesn’t see the cam, HDV Split doesn’t see the cam. Could it be a driver or codec of some sort? None of the troubleshooting guides I’ve seen have fixed the problem.
