One trick I’ll sometimes use, especially if the locator is applied to filler, is I’ll make an add edit before and after the locator or range of locators, and then move them using segment mode. Up and down or right and left, it works fine. If your locators are applied to clips, doesn’t work since you’d be moving those clips.

If that doesn’t work for you, this guy figured out a great solution.

I’m confused, because quad split will allow simultaneous viewing of a group clip loaded in the source monitor. I do this all the time to check groups for errors. I’ve seen this exact issue arise, normally in the case of a large multi group where a prior group had 5 angles, and the next group had 4. Because “Audio Follows Video” was not set, the audio being monitor was the audio corresponding to the first video angle, but for whatever reason, the Avid would be displaying the second camera bank (to corresponding the 5th angle, which is no longer visible because that angle dropped out). I also understand a multi group is not the same as a group, but I’ve seen this before and when the problem arose, clicking “Swap Camera Banks” has gotten me the results I was looking for.

I’m not following. Group clip. 5 angles, correct? That should be viewable using quad split. If the bandwidth is too high, try enabling “Playlength” or turning your playback quality from green to yellow, or yellow/green.

Are you in Quad split as opposed to nine split, and have you tried swapping camera banks?

You might try trim to fill. Essentially, it’s just a basic time warp template that puts elastic keyframes and the first and last frame of your clip. The contents of the clip will remain the same, but if you trim it out it will slow down to accommodate the duration, and if you trim it in, it will become faster.

Is it highlighted blue? The transition manipulation tool can be turned off individually by clicking it, or the entire Smart Tool can be turned off by clicking the border around it.

Is this your Avid system, or is it a rented one? It sounds like the console command IgnoreQTRate=True was set, which will force footage to play out at the projects frame rate which would make the 30 fps play slow. Normally, what you’d do is open a 29.97 ntsc project and import the footage into that. Then you’d open that bin from your 23.976 project and pull the footage over. When you cut it into the Avid, it will apply a time warp effect to play the footage properly.
