  • Using the Time Remap tool (or graph) kills the sync between audio and video. I think you might try using something like AfterEffects, or just change the speed between 2 points in FCP. It won’t be a smooth ramp up and down, but that might be less of an issue than you would think.

I’ve known “Certified” editors that stink.

  • Maybe one reason you didn’t get a response is because after watching 2 minutes of the sample video I still haven’t heard what you are asking about. Painful. But the process is simple. If the audio is separate from the video simply select it in the timeline, type “command-j” and chose a speed percentage of less that 100. If it’s still linked to the video, type “command-L” to unlink it first. There are also controls for having the audio change speed over time.

It’s an easy (and cheap) purchase from Apple. Go to the site (https://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_mac/software?mco=OTY2ODQyOQ) and get the license code. Follow the instructions. Simple. You really are quite limited without it. BTW capturing without deck control, and having time-code breaks in the first place, becomes a nightmare if you ever have to reimport the footage. You will regret it one day.

Try copying the track from the CD into a folder. Then import that.

As far as maintaining quality, open the raw footage directly in AE. When you are finished, export using the Animation codec. Hugh file, but worth it.

I think that’s still a copyright infringement. But if you must go through with it there’s MacTheRipper.
