Might I offer another literary reference with regard to Bob’s personality? Lilliputian. AND there’s a particular satirical point with regard to Little Endian and Big Endian. The Lilliputians quarreled whether to break an egg from the little end or the big end, and audio engineers do a similar thing!!
tongue-wholly-in-cheek

First thing to do when school starts: Go to the career center and find an internship. Talk to your professors and get another internship. Ideally, by the time you graduate, you will have one internship per semester, and of course a reel.
College is tough because you have to do three things:
1. Work in the industry at a less than ideal wage (an internship or 3)
2. Study your discipline
3. Build your reelYou have to have all three.
You can sleep later.
You can meet people and socialize later.Never stop learning.

Thought you might like that one. It’s a great novel, too, if you haven’t read it!

“[R]ebels turned self-conscious drones…adopt a mask of cynicism that cannot hide their more or less paranoiac sense of having been betrayed by life” (John Fowles, The Magus, p. 519).

[Ron Lindeboom] “If I were an instructor at college, I would spend the first day showing nothing but exemplary work and pointing out the nuances and little things that make it brilliant work. And I would purposely try to scare the hell of people who think this is going to be a cakewalk on easy street and that making videos is fun. Yeah, right…15 to 18 hour days under heavy deadlines and intense pressures is a ball! “
That’s exactly what Curran Engel did for me and many many other students at AAU, SF.

It means: I guess I typed too fast and didn’t get the timing on a (bad) joke very well. Trying to connect some nefarious dots. Sorry it wasn’t too humorous, as I’d hoped. “Copping out” is a synonym for wimping out (what you said in your post).
The Film and video part, though, is an observation that teaching is an important thing, for the student, but it doesn’t mean the student will be an artist.
More…I’ve found that when I teach a thing, I seem to get better at doing that thing.

Not having one of those fancy gadgets, I’d stay a bit wide so I match the clips in AE.

Big important difference between:
— teaching technique
&
— being an artistThey’ve been teaching writing for quite some time, a couple millennia, but great works are still 1 in a bazillion.
Same thing with film and video. You might know what a noun phrase appositive is, but that in itself isn’t writing. You might know how to operate FCP, but that in itself isn’t editing.
Film and video has only been taught since when the late 1960s or so, about the time the phrase “copping out” was coined.
(My wife’s a professor.)

I’m curious what your thoughts are on running time of these videos? I believe you’re approaching it correctly:
— an established opt-in email list
— sending links to web page of videosTrying to do a similar thing, we have had discussions on running time and the discussion breaks out as the following:
— (positive) a short video means people will reach the call to action
— (negative) a short video feels like an ad
— (positive) a long video means the video will contain all the information
— (negative) a long video means most people will not stay to the endThis matrix has caused us to grind to a halt.
Just curious, if you have had similar discussions?
Thanks!
