On some of the tapes, the timecode breaks every couple of seconds or, at its worst, every few frames; so, it clearly is something more than camera starts and stops. I suspect the camera they used hasn’t been cleaned in awhile.

I hadn’t taken that into consideration, I’ll adjust those settings and try again.

I’m capturing DV tapes from a Sony DVCAM deck, through firewire, the capture/input at DV NTSC 48 kHz.
