  • Hi Jeff

Yep, after looking at the forum that was one of the first thing I tried. I don’t think it was a dodgy render file because I had the same errors on both my 1080 and 4K timelines…

  • Thanks for all your help! Looking through your responses it became apparent it could be a drive issue.

As mentioned each time the project failed to export in a different place on the timeline and so it appeared to be random. But by taking a snapshot of the error report on every fail I eventually worked out using the frame counter that all of the frames were associated with two lengthy items of media in particular that was spread across the timeline – sooo not really random at all!

So I copied the media across to another raid drive, deleted the original and relinked – hey presto – job done!

I have done speed and performance tests on both sets of raid drives report to be working well, so its still a bit of mystery – but if you are having problems changing your media to another drive if you can is defo worth a go as is checking permissions etc.

Hope this helps someone in the future…

  • Hi John
Only have an old version of DW but might invest and try that.. but thanks – you have given me an idea re disk permissions that i’ll try and run first with disk utilities – will let you know how I go..

  • Hi Dave
Yep on 10.0.9 but as mentioned the error happens in the rendered 1080P timeline as well – very frustrating!

    Hey Stuart,
Are you still keeping your fingers crossed? I keep trawling the forums in hope that one day the two companies will somehow produce the drivers between them. I too support both companies by using BM and AJA products but I really don’t won’t let my AJA 3D card to be made redundant just so that I can use BM software out of principle .. frankly its a joke that whilst both AJA and BM play pricing and product politics us loyal users get left in the lurch!

seriously, its really easy and much faster than 7… just grab the top right or left corner of the clip you need a single transition as Julian mentioned, it took me a while to figure at first – so its worth persevering!

    Hi Julian,
Just highlight the edge of the clip (not the full clip) Then use the shortcut ‘command T’ instead of dropping the transition on. Hey presto – done! You can change the transition duration in FCPX prefs…

    Much quicker than 7 methinks!

We use the Samurai… its super value for money. It’s true that small SDI is a little fiddly but its such a compact unit for location work where size and weight are important factors.
In post it’s hooked via its HDSDI to our Kona Card/HDcam – Like the Ninja can set it to record run of TC so it looks after itself and also acts as a small reference monitor by the VTR.
The prores files it produces have all passed broadcast tech-specs with Sky and BBC so its good enough for me!
