If parenting fixed the problem, then maybe the anchor point on that one layer was shifted somehow.

Did you download after effects? Might need a reinstall.

Lol, thats exactly what i did. I actually traced the paths of the drippings with the mask tool because the original size is small. So I scaled it up, traced its pixelated paths, then animated it with write on effect. Watching some paint drips on youtube to get a feel for the timing. Kinda wish i had a black painted mannequin i could throw paint onto. Actually, that gives me a good idea, something with Shane Turner’s art.

I do that same thing a lot myself. But thanks for the tip anyways. It might help someone else in the future. My idea Is actually my avatar image. I wanted to animate the same paint drips with paths that vary in stroke width to make it more cartoon like. I wanted to zoom in. But it becomes pixelated. I could use your technique for revealing vector art using the write on effect as a matte, however, my art is not in vector format, unfortunately.

IM not sure what your asking. You could make a triangle mask on a layer, then make a circle mask and have the mask shape animate from one to the other. Thats the easiest way, but there are so many ways to do this.

Sounds like its Incremental saving every time. Though its only supposed to when you hit increment and save.

You can create a new solid, add the write on effect, copy the mask and paste it onto the brush path, then animate the size of the brush. That might work.

The rotobrush might work. And if its not perfect i would use that opportunity to make it look intentional, maybe some paint effects,

Ya, thats what i ended up doing. But if i wanted to create a whole project like this things would get annoyingly complicated.
