did you set the gravity to really low as well?..but anyways this tutorial has you trying to fake it ..and it does not quite look as good does it. if you have the time to render do the same project with smaller particles and a stronger blur on the camera lens blur.

but really…using the particle system as a displacement map has really good results too

well you can either use other animations as a displacement maps..but i do have one little trick..you can mask out certain sections of the image and throw a particle world on there with a lens convex or concave on the particle type…the only problem with this is that the particles stop at the mask

really? the first 10 frames ar missing..for nearly every comp…not much is missing…just the bg…not too important

I like to use the scale composition using only the scale factor..which as you know has a few problems…for things like particles i can just copy and paste onto new layers and they fix themselves…so you might be able to copy the masks and paste onto a new solid the size of the current composition…i dont scale up complex projects so it might have more problems im not aware of.

right above the composition window on the top left it says snapping…when you click the pen too it turns into rotobezier ..uncheck that box
