One of us is confused. It certainly could be me. If I should not see anything in the capture window, how would I know which scenes to capture?

    Here is my configuration:
    Pentium 4 3.2 GHz, 3 GB Ram
Window XP Pro Service Pack 3
Two EIDE 250 GB Hard Drives
One Serial 320 GB Drive for Video Editing
    ATI Radeon 9600 video Card
    Samsung Syncmaster 797 DF Monitor
    OHCI compliant Firewire Card
USB Yamaha MW 12 Mixer/ Sound

This system has worked well for Premiere Pro 2.0 with Standard Definition. Now, with HDV, I experience stuttering only in the capture window. All captured clips are perfect. When I connect an old Commodore monitor to my video camera (Canon HDV40) there is no stutter in that monitor, but there is a delay. Should I be looking for a better video card, perhaps?

I had the same problem. I imported jpegs from a cd and then burned a DVD, only to find that the pictures were not there. Apparently, they became “offline” when I removed the cd in order to burn the DVD. When the imported photos came from a hard drive folder, voila! I hope this might help.
