I wrote this post on another thread about it, so I thought it’d be relevant for this one as well, and copied it here:

Wow that’s a great idea, I’ll try it out. I just came back to this thread to write out another possible solution, which is instead of sending to AE from Premiere, you create an AE project, go on File>Adobe Dynamic Link>Import Premiere Pro Sequence. It works pretty well, the only disadvantage being that all your changes in PP appear in AE, but it seems that if you change anything in AE it won’t change back in PP, so you have to finish your final exports from AE. It’s not that big of a drawback for me because it suits well my workflow.

I know this thread is old, but in case anyone else is looking for this function here’s how to do it:

On CS5.5 (it will likely work on other versions too), to razor at the cti location you press ctrl+k (you can change the shortcut on edit>keyboard shortcuts). It will razor all the SELECTED tracks. So if you’re splitting a long sequence and you only want to split, say, video 1 and audio 3, alll you gotta do is select only those two tracks at the track header section of the timeline (light gray is selected, dark gray is not selected). Hope this helps.

Hummm, that’s actually a pretty good idea, I don’t know how I didn’t think of that haha. I’ll edit it in it’s native format then I’ll nest the sequences and fix them on the final sequence. Thanks a lot for your time guys!

Hey Jeff, thanks for following up!

The files I have are FOR SURE 0.91 pixel ratio, 4:3 DV. The image contained in these 4:3 files is a 16:9 image letterboxed. What I’m trying to figure out is the best way to resize these files to be DV Widescreen by removing the black bars in the files without having to manually scale each shot. Meaning, I wanna remove the black bars.

The way I exported the footage from the tapes was at my college’s computer lab, there they use Final Cut Pro 6, but I rarely worked there so I didn’t knew much about operating the cameras or Final Cut. When I exported the tapes, I tried a variety of settings, and I exported both in DV 4:3 and DV Widescreen, and they resulted on identical footage, but with different pixel aspect ratios, meaning that the Widescreen export also had the black bars and everything looked stretched. Like you said, it seems to me that the DVX displayed the black bars and also attached it to the footage, either that or I exported it incorrectly while using Final Cut Pro.

I did as you said and changed the pixel aspect ratio and set the sequence to DV Widescreen but it just resulted in the 4:3 footage being stretched with the black bars.

Any other suggestions?

I’m also looking to do an ants effect in a project for college, but it’s something VERY simple, just a trail of dots climbing a pizza box and getting inside would do. I’m a beginner. If you could provide some assistance on how that can be done I would much appreciate it.
