You can get stock footage (FREE) of blood from detonationfilms.com, or you can buy from videocopilot.net (Andrew Kramers webiste)

The only way I can think of is by using a displacement map. Make sure that you image is black and white and also make sure that you are using the luminance in the displacement map widnow.
