October 28, 2015 at 12:49 pm in reply to: Can You Transfer PXW-X70 Video Directly to an External HD?Thanks for the replies…… Basically all I want to do is copy/paste the “entire folder” on an external hard drive. It appears that this can be done. I haven’t physically tried it yet, but I’ll do a test with some unimportant video. Keeping the entire folder looks to be the most important. If this works without any problems, I should be able to dump it back on my SDXC card. Any more tips/comments would be most appreciated. Thanks again, Ray

I contacted Sony USA in which I received a very quick response. They gave me a link (below) to the release notes of the 4k upgrade which includes 4k user information. I totally overlooked it upon downloading the upgrade….. My Bad. Settings for playback was a breeze. Ray

Hi David, Thanks for the info….. I’ll play around with profiles 4 and 2 as you mentioned. I sincerely appreciate and value your input, especially with you being an experienced colorist. I’m sure we will hear from others as time goes on. I’m extremely new to this camcorder as well. I’ve been shooting in XAVC which looks awesome so far. As you know, a 4K upgrade is suppose to be coming soon…. wasn’t given in the first quarter as promised. Rumors have it to be sometime in June. Thanks again, you’ve been great. Ray

Hi David,
Found some info from a couple great videographer’s Paul Anderegg and David Dixon from the following two links. Other than that, nothing. I along with a lot of us would love to see what others are using. Please chime in with your experience and settings? Thanks, Rayhttps://www.dvinfo.net/forum/sony-pxw-x70-fdr-ax100/527493-new-x70-samples.html#post1883022

But…. then again, in regards to XAVC-L, maybe not.

Thanks Tim…. That’s awesome to hear! Although, I did look up the new update in which I didn’t see support for .M2T, but then again at times, Apple doesn’t always list everything:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/final-cut-pro/id424389933?mt=12
(Click on the word More under the Description for details)I do see that it now supports Sony’s XAVC format, assuming they now support the much needed XAVC-L (Long GOP). It has supported XAVC-S, but not XAVC-L. This would be great news for us Sony XDCAM PXW-X70 and similar camcorders. Thanks again for your input, Ray

March 16, 2015 at 11:51 am in reply to: Needed: Setting Up RAID For iMac 5K For Video EditingThanks for the info….. My final determination on either one will depend on a couple things;
1) How much original media can be imported from my external storage drives into the RAID drives for 4k editing?
2)Would the RAID read/write speed reduce with the more media that is introduced into the RAID drives?
Thanks again for all your help and input. Ray
