  • Thanks Shane, changing alpa to RGB was the problem. I’m not sure how this was changed to alpha.
Have a great day and thanks for the quick response.
    Thanks again, Randy

  • I used the master mixir. I will now have to go into mixir and bring master to 0 for each sequence and then, as you instruct, mix each channel independently and then I will be able to copy and past without losing audio levels. Thanks for your help.

  • No it wasn’t the master audio level. It was the audio mixer in tools. When I copy and past to another sequence I think the copy and paste clips keep the audio levels in the time lime but not the gain i give to all the clips from the audio mixer in tools. I think the clips dumped into the new time line takes on what ever the audio mixer is set for that sequence they have been pasted to. I will try it again. If this is true is there a work around. I would hate to have to adjust the audio for each sequence that is copy and pasted into a new final sequence. Thanks for the info.

Nick, good question. I understand the increase in dynamic range using 24 bit but I want to keep file size down so I’m using 16 bit. When I get a larger external hard drive I will most likely use 24 bit.
Since I do have a day and a half of shooting in 24 bit, will I need to choose 24 bit for the sequence or can you choose 16 bit for the sequence and mix 24 bit and 16 bit clips on the same sequence. If the answer is, you can’t, then I can keep the bit rates specific to that sequence, 16 bit sequence for 16 bit clips and 24 bit sequence for 24 bit clips and the nest these sequences together or is this even necessary?

Thank you Dave for your quick reply. I really appreciate it. I was a little worried that if Default sequence setting was
set at 48hz 16bit that any 48hz 24 bit may cause possible problems like sync drifting.

  • Thank you Mr. Meyers what you instructed me to do worked. This will save me hours in editing. Thank you so much for your instruction I am truly grateful.
    Sincerely, Randall Johannes

  • Yes, the combined audio/video combined clips have a red “off line” line through through the clip but when i try to reconnect the media file it states that the audio/video combined file is online but the audio file is off line but the audio file i already reconnected and is online when you open the audio clip. For some reason even the the audio file is on line and the video file is online the combined audio/video file is off line because when I made the audio file on line the in and out points exceeded the length of the video file. I think I am just going to have to re edit files.

  • This is a fcp pro 6 question. I didn’t know that this was a fcp 7 forum.
