    Julie –

MainConcept’s DVCPRO50 plug-in works just fine for PPro. There is a totally unsubstantiated rumor floating about that they have a DVCPRO HD (aka DVCPRO 100) plug-in in development. I’m not sure why Adobe hasn’t added native support for these formats.

What do you mean by Right-To-Left support?
It might be worth the investment to learn AE. I’ve yet to have a titling project, regardless of complexity, that it couldn’t handle.

  • Peter,

Were you thinking about a deck that recorded to P2 cards or to tape?
It’s probably a good idea either way 🙂

    cheers,

If you wanted to (and had the horsepower) you could capture 10-bit, uncompressed, 4:4:4 color video and edit it in Pro. Even HD. The limits are related to how you bring the video in and how you render it out.

I’m of the “you can’t have too much RAM” school. I think it’s a great place to invest additional money.

Ah, the old speed ramp effect. I think the Twixtor (sp) plug-in gives you keyframable animation of frame rates. Their interpolation is better than PPro’s too. Goggle should find it for you, I don’t recall who makes it. Vision effects?

  • I would expect the camera to work just fine with PPro 1.5, though you may need a plug-in for the DVCPRO formats (Main Concept makes one. I’m sure there are others).

Rumors on the camera abound both here and elsewhere. It’s probably easiest at this point to relax and wait for the press release from NAB. It’s going to be months before the camera reaches the real world, and then I’d want to wait for my local Panasonic dealer to get one I can have some hands-on time with before I made any decisions.
