the only 2 options Ableton gives for export are AIFF or WAV.

i don’t believe it’s “broadcast wav” as i had exported the track from a regular DAW called Ableton Live. So it’s just a regular song wav file. But i don’t believe i had this rendering problem with the audio in the past.

As far as 16 bit, yes i already tried that. I exported both a 16bit as well as a 24bit file, both 48khz, and both versions ran into the same issue.

I wonder if the audio that already comes attached with the video on the timeline could be mismatching with the wav file audio I’m importing?

I thought it should be fine because the video clip, while it was originally an mp4, i had transcoded it to prores 422 LT, and just used the default settings.

Any other ideas?

I’m on a late 2008 macbook running Yosemite. FCP7 works perfectly fine, haven’t had any issues at all and i’ve been doing really complex editing and effects, no problems. I didn’t think about the possibility that log and capture might be the only feature that wouldn’t work when running FCP on Yosemite.

I’m connecting the HV30 directly to the macbook via firewire cable, no adapters.

If this is the issue and there is no solution to getting FCP7 to recognize the HV30, i wonder what other alternatives i have to get the footage from mini-dv tape onto my macbook. I don’t have iMOVIE. I do have Adobe Premier although i’ve never used it. But when i launched Premier to try to capture the footage that way, it didn’t seem to have an HDV option.

Any ideas?

also, on the HV30, i recoded in standard HDV, (not the HDV30 or HDV24 options). in the manual it doesn’t tell u what frame rate standard HD is. anybody know? all i know is that it’s 1080i. It is not capturing and on FCP log and capture there are options for 1080i50 and 1080i60, for instance, but no where can i tell what the fame rate of my HV30 footage is.

That would be a good idea, only problem is that she physically moves around the screen while talking, so for me to use the garbage matte when constricting the color limit effect to her lips, I would have to use keyframes and modify the garbage matte settings per frame which would be way too much work. Is there a matte filter that can isolate and track the movement of the lips at the same time?

So what happens is that when i use the sliders in the LIMIT EFFECT section of the color corrector effect, I am unable t confine the area that I want effected. Basically what i am trying to do is redden the lips of the subject in this close-up scene. So i use the dropper to select her lips, then I bump up the saturator slider to more lips color.

The problem is that when i select the lips with the dropper tool, it selects the areas in the video frame that also have similar color

So, grabbing and moving the the borders around the selected area would be great. I just don’t know how to do that. Do u know how to limit my selection?

OK, but couldn’t there be another alternative to chomakeying? i.e., a “replace color” feature whereby I select the green background with the dropper tool, and only that specific range of green color will be inputed by the computer and then from there I just select any other color to replace it with?

Actually I am trying to AVOID USING CHROMA KEY for this. Reason being is that these particular shots won’t chroma key well, so just wondering if there is a way to just select the green background and swap it with a white background for instance without using chroma key. Is that possible?

Hi Nick, thanks! i didn’t know about “show duplicate frames” before, but that is exactly what I am looking for!
However, I tried it and it didn’t work. I searched on the web and seems other people had same problem of it not working because they are using canon 5d footage and it was transcoded to prores rather than log and captured. When it is log and captured, then a reel name gets created. When it is transcended and imported to FCP instead, then no reel is created for the footage, and therefore somehow FCP dupe detection doesn’t function.
My footage is Canon 5d that was transcoded to progress 422.

Did you have this issue as well?

And if so, is there an easy way to give your source clip in the browser a reel name?
I have about 50 clips in my browser, and I don’t want to ascribe a reel to each and every one. My issue though should be much simpler and easier. Only 1 or 2 clips in my bowser have duplicate frames in my timeline that I want to locate. So i only need to apply a reel name for those 1 o 2 clips in my browser. Do you know how to do that?
