    steve,

    i used aspect HD, still the plyback was jerky and stuttering. I have decideid to go buy a new system. Please suggest , should I go for an Athlon64 FX or Athlon64 X2 ? or Intel…but I prefer Athlons, they are cheaper and better performers.

    ok..found a fix for it.

    After I exported the rendered Qt in PPro
    {importing the aep file and rendering in PPro took me 40mins for a 30sec clip…while doing the same in AFX took abt 6 mins!!}

    Put that in PPro2 timeline, where it was still shaky, then re exported it as a Microsoft DV AVI movie…and then imported it back in…

    played fine without shakes, but image looked a bit degraded…

    …and when I am exporting the file from AfterFX as uncompressed .avi, and bringing it into PPro 2, the text is looking broken and the image is a bit wobbly.

    Tried with QT codec using animation preset. Same problem. But its fine when Im playing it in Qt player.

    Is the issue in importing it into Premiere Pro 2 ?

    i tried capturing HDV on an AvidxPro Hd, with roughly the same specs as mine…Intel P4, 3Ghz, 1gb Ram, Matrox 64Mb card…and it captured with some dropped frames…editing was also not a problem. So i presume with 2 GB I can edit fine in PPro 2.

    Also the adobe specs say you require 2GB.

    thanks for the info, but i dont think this problem happens with Avid, SATA or no SATA… maybe its the how Avid manages the data. this stuttering playback is premiere only problem…

    steven,

    i have a 320GB Barracuda and 120GB Sata internal. For a documentary i neeed another 320GB more. The footage is in DVcam, downconverted from HDV 1080i, using sony Z1p camera. I plan to buy the new hard ddisk and use it via fire wire. Will I face the same problem of stuttering playback on the timeline?
