March 15, 2015 at 12:52 pm in reply to: ATTO R680 Firmware reset ?

my experience with drives that don’t show “fail” is, that they are just about to fail and show the first signs of a failure. Later they go red.
The Aja test is a nice feature, thank you Bob.
What does Atto say to this?
They have a great support, and the R680 is a good piece of hardware to my experience – or not?

    cheers

March 6, 2015 at 3:58 pm in reply to: 4TB SAS drives in Vtrak e610fD?

    So,

on a mac platform the promise e610fD just takes a maximum of 2TB drives.
On a windows platform you can use up to 4TB SAS drives SATA drives are limited to 2TB per drive.

    cheers

  • But be careful and back up everything. This Raid works with Raid0, so if one drive fails all data is lost – no chance of recovery,

  • You are right,

ist a Hitachi Deskstar its a HDS723030ALA640. I would put another 2x Deskstar 4TB HDS724040ALE640 in the enclosure. It should work.

    cheers

  • The Ultrastar is a enterprise class disk.

  • What G-Raid are we talking about?

Normally the big manufacturers have a drive compatibility list (f.e. Sonnet or Promise).
    I couldn’t find one with G-Tech.
The two bay Raid is sold with 4TB and 8TB.
I would look what Discs they use and would put the same (f.e. Hitachi Ultrastar) two 4TB Discs instead of the existing 2TB models in it. To me it will work.
What are the numbers of the existing disks ? (f.e. HUA723030ALA640)
    cheers
