If you have the full camera folder structure of those “mts”, you could use Log&Transfer.
If not, your best option is “ClipWrap”. They have a free-trial version.
Still very weird for me that distortion.

That sounds weird.
First lets make sure that the clip wasn’t distorted when was compressed as Libx264.
Open the clip with VLC and see how its looks.
Another test you can do is to export a short clip with MPGstreamclip, but instead of “Unsacaled”, 1920×1080.
If in this case the picture still looking wrong, then the clip aspect is not 16×9.

You are not wrong Mark.
You can go FCP Classic to FCPX, with “7toX” or FCPX to FCP Classic, with “Xto7”, but you need FCP.6/7 and FCPX.In the case of Michael, he needs to be able to open first his old FCP project with FCP 6 or 7, and export an XML that “7toX” will translate.

Sorry but I wrote my post a bit too fast (as so many times 🙂
I didn’t want to criticize Mr Jordan, but the fact is that many of his tutorials are old and haven’t been properly updated.
In fact i’ve post him a couple of times about things that could been improved and he has shown very receptive.
But it really amaze me that he do not mention the “Frame Control.

Sorry I got mixed up because you wrote about the “Geometry” tab, and I don’t see the need to touch that when the out put is supposed to have the same aspect ratio than the source.

What you haven’t tell yet is which FC version you are using.

FC’s masks don’t take video clips but only graphics.
The graphic should show up on the Reconnecting list and in the Browser.

Import your Prores master to Compressor, and apply the “Best Quality DVD-90 minutes” preset.
Set the Control Frame ON, to get a better downscaling (resizing Filter BEST).
You will get a 16×9 picture DVD.

David, sorry but i see all that unnecessary.
He has already a Prores movie, and he doesn’t say he wants a 4/3 DVD.In the other hand, Larry’s Jordan workflows, many times are far from being recommendable.
The linked tutorial is about HD>SD conversion and he do not even mention Compressor’s “Frame Control”.
When he talks about “Changing Frame Rate”, he is doing so in the QT window.
A cheap, bad workflow.
He should review many of his papers.
