I have been bounced around all over with sony and supermicro. Supermicro (Hardware) is saying it is not their problem, and sony is saying it is not their problem (software). Then I am told to contact my dealer, supermicro, sonycreativesoftware.com, sonymedia.com, and back to the sony tech guy. Finally the dealer is helping me. The computer is turnkey system and it has more problems that just the software, it is a system configuration error.

Hopefully, I will get a RMA.

Another problem. I can not use the media manager in vegas or acid. Now I get the data base service failed to initialize (MSSQL$Sony_media mgr2).

    Or I get:

you do not have permission or I get not enough priviledges.

Plus I have dealt with Sonys Tech, and he just keeps on telling me I don’t need to have it. It is optional. Or he said just go in the explorer window. He does not tell me how to get the media mgr2 – I guess there must be a lot of problems with it.

I have tried going through administration, removing and reinstalling both from the cd or from sonys site.

It is ashame to get a computer that is suppose to be up and running with no problems. This is why i got a turnkey – no stress.

What I saw in the computer was c:, d: and e: drive. But I did not see any storage drive – nothing. So I went into computer, manage etc and I tried to initialize – but I was using the letter F: and the computer would not recognize anything. Then I called and emailed around. Since it is a new computer I did not want to be blamed for anything.

Furthermore, the tech guy was confused because he did not know Windows 7. Anyway, if works by assigning the letter h:.

Thanks everybody. I called the place I bought it, and they said I misunderstood what I was buying. So I wrote emails all over the place. Finally I got a tech person at supermicro, who had a problem because he was not to familar with Windows 7. After a day or so, finally another tech figured it out. The drive was not initialized. As one person here mentioned – thanks.

Then Sony realized all the emails I wrote (everywhere since everyone was passing the buck around). And they are sending me a upgrade to the programs.

    What a day. Thanks everyone.

  • Thank you so much for the quick response Frederic. I am receiving the new sony turnkey. I am one of those people who can not build their own computer. I was worried because at one time, I had a copy of “word” which was preinstalled on a computer, then later I downloaded Office Professional, and when I went to delete the “word” from the Office Professional – the computer deleted both copies of “word”. Again, I am just a beginner here with so much to learn…..thank you.
