Hello, I am new here and a beginner in this area. I will be getting a computer which all ready has vegas pro 9 installed in it. I want to keep it but I also would like to get the vegas movie studio hd platinum 10 production. I hear there are different features. Now can I have these two programs in the same hard drives. Computer has two hard drives each 1TB. Using Windows 7 (64 bit)……Just wondering if this would cause problems with codes or something. Or when deleting a file in 10 if it will effect pro 9. Also the 10 has sound forge with vocal eraser, and the 9 does not. Can I cause confusion? Hope this makes sense.

I didn’t make the test however I would be rather confident that it will be no problem to have both installed on the same machine, for different reasons:

    – I have both Vegas Movie Studio 9 and Vegas Movie Studio Platinum HD 10.0 Production Suite, and they co-exist on the same machine without any issue

    – in the system registry, Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 10 has its own entry, so I guess that the settings of both software won’t overlap

As you certainly know, you will be able to install an eval version of Vegas Pro at no cost to make the test.

    Hope this helps,
    Frederic

Thank you so much for the quick response Frederic. I am receiving the new sony turnkey. I am one of those people who can not build their own computer. I was worried because at one time, I had a copy of “word” which was preinstalled on a computer, then later I downloaded Office Professional, and when I went to delete the “word” from the Office Professional – the computer deleted both copies of “word”. Again, I am just a beginner here with so much to learn…..thank you.

Different just means that Veags Movie Studio can do less than Vegas Pro. There is absolutely no reason to buy the Movie Studio version if you already have the Pro version which does a whole lot more.

Also the 10 has sound forge with vocal eraser, and the 9 does not.

Sound Forge Audio Studio 10 $64.95 comes bundled with the Platinum Production Suite for $124.95. If you want Sound Forge Audio Studio 10 it would be cheaper to just buy it rather than spending twice the price for something you don’t need.

BTW, I can also confirm that both versions of Vegas can happily co-exist if you choose to buy both (but you don’t need both) 😉

Thank you all for your response. And yes that does make more sense buy only for the vocal eraser. Hope to learn a lot from this site. Thanks
