Thanks very much!
BTW, how do I repair permissions? -
Thanks.
Any preference between exporting as aiff or WAV (for conversion to ac3 in A.Pack)?RE: compressor… my version does not allow for ac3… only aiff for DVD’s. Must be older but can’t update for various reasons.
Is there any concern for loss of sound sync (in DVDSP or on my final DVD)if I export sound separately from the movie in AE?
Thanks for your advice!

September 28, 2007 at 5:56 am in reply to: Audio Wavefrom – need 2 fill the shape: HELP!…but the waveform (from Spectrum) doesn’t create a mask.
Am I missing something. The mask on the layer is sort of an oval. The waveform is a jagged line. Auto trace only seems to trace the mask, not the waveform shape.
I’m not really understanding your suggestion.
I’m sorry, I feel sort of dense about this…

September 28, 2007 at 12:55 am in reply to: Audio Wavefrom – need 2 fill the shape: HELP!Hi,
I think I’m missing something here.
I have a waveform that references a path (path is a closed free form oval). The waveform ends up looking like a burst, like something on a consumer package that would say NEW! inside. Know what I mean?
The burst (wavefrom) is connected to audio andanimates ovet time.
The size varies a great deal. Some times it’s small and other times it’s wild and even goes outside of the layer.
So I’m confused about the bucket/water shape. I need to fill my animated burst shape so I can use it as a track matte…
Hope I’ve been clear.
Any suggestions? -

tried that, but auto trace traces the outline of the shape (of the closed path) on the layer, not the waveform shape (which is tied to the closed path on the layer).
The waveform effect is connected to the path, but it’s shape does not actually exist on the layer… it’s generated by the effect.
Also it’s only a 4 pix thick jagged line.
How do I fill the interior of the wavefrom shape? Is there a way? -

It is just a thin line and I need a solid shape.
(I can’t simply thicken the line because it gets all blobby and rounded corners.) -
noted, and thank you again for your help. I really appreciate your communication.

I’m sorry if I wasn’t clear again…
The G4 HD is a seperate drive – which came with the computer. It has the OS on it.
I have been working off of an additional 100 Gig Western Digital internal drive (the 2 partitions that I mentioned) which I installed later. I assume that’s OK?
However I HAVE worked off of the HD in the past and didn’t know that I shouldn’t do that. So thanks for the tip.Are you saying not to do only video or processor intensive programs off of ther HD?
-
Oh… the drive is an internal 100 gig drive with 2 partitions (not the computer’s HD). Sorry I wasn’t clear.
So I was working off one of the partitions of about 46 gigs – 13 of which were free.
But I think it may be quite fragmented as lots of projects have come and gone (at 1 point it was almost totally full), and it’s never been defragged.
Could this cause problemms like I described?
Thanks vrey much for your help. -
I think this is correct. Even playing them in Quicktime on my computer (outside of FCP) I found that the same clips were studdering in about the same spots.
I put one or 2 of these clips on another drive and they played normally.
So I am transferring everything to a firewire drive and will relink the media.
I guess it’s time to clean out and defragment the original (internal) drive that was giving me the problems? Could it be that the drive was too fragmented after extended use (and the movies were chopped up), or do you think it’s just that one needs 30% free space?
Thanks SO much for your suuggestion! I lost a lot of time but at least I can proceed…
