I faced similar problems when I tried to mix PAL/NTSC video and audio. Just check if the timebase is consistent across the sequence and clips.

  • You can export the sequence with “Make Movie Self-Contained” option un-checked. You can then import the sequence just like any other quicktime and work on it.

When you use the keyboard shortcut for audio/video transition, it uses the transition that is set default. In case of Audio, there are 2 transitions what come with FCP – CrossFade 0dB and +3dB. Is it possible that your default is set to +3dB and the default length for that is more that the 0dB crosfade you are using from the menu? I know its a long shot, but other than that I can’t think of any reason why you’d see this issue.

You know what, that’s it! I did know about the JKL trimming or the dynamic trimming in FCP, but I didn’t know that ‘u’, ‘[‘ and ‘]’ work exactly the same way in dynamic trimming window. There’s just one extra keystroke required, Cmd-7 to start the dynamic trimming window. Thanks a lot Michael for pointing in the right direction!
