I like to use keyboard shortcuts (v, u and [/]) to make a ripple edit on the timeline. However when I am doing a ripple edit on the outgoing clip (left side), my Canvas only shows the first frame of the incoming clip. I have to move the playhead manually to the last frame of the outgoing clip after every ripple edit to see where I am. This is very cumbersome. Is there a way to see the last frame of the outgoing clip in the Canvas while doing ripple edit using keyboard shortcuts? Thanks in advance.

Bothered me for years. There is no way to see the last frame of outgoing clip when trimming like this. Have you tried JKL trimming?

You know what, that’s it! I did know about the JKL trimming or the dynamic trimming in FCP, but I didn’t know that ‘u’, ‘[‘ and ‘]’ work exactly the same way in dynamic trimming window. There’s just one extra keystroke required, Cmd-7 to start the dynamic trimming window. Thanks a lot Michael for pointing in the right direction!
