Dave LaRonde seems to have the right of it in this thread.

Seems to be do to the type of file imported into AE. AE CS3 can’t handle frames with incomplete information very well it seems. I’ve tested by converting a .mov with photo jpg compression into .mov with animation comp. and the stuck frames disappeared. Though, this is just a work around, I feel.

I’m also having this exact problem, except I’m on a Macbook Pro 2.4 C2D with 2 GB ram, Leopard 10.54.

The video clip seems to get stuck on a frame when previewing, or will alternative back and forth between that stuck frame and the frame it’s suppose to be on. The result is a very mangled-looking clip.

I’ve tried Purging Image Cache/Video Memory and tried Cleaning Database/Cache. This does reset everything but if you preview it will get mangled again.

I’ve tried playing around with the Max RAM cache size and Max Memory Usage, but I haven’t yet been able to fix it. Let me know if you find a solution.

    Thx,
    Kendall
