October 12, 2009 at 10:13 pm in reply to: Help! Rotoscoped figure showing up as white mask!Thank you for your reply Steve. I am aware of drawing the mask directly on the footage layer and yes in this instance I have rotod on a solid stacked above the footage. You are also right that each technique has its advantages, which is why I will continue to implement both methods in my roto work in order to become a better rotoscoper.

October 12, 2009 at 3:18 am in reply to: Help! Rotoscoped figure showing up as white mask! Thanks for replying Danny. I tried playing around with the settings for my mask properties without success. But after messing around with the settings for Track Mattes I came across the solution…I changed the Track Matte for the footage layer to ‘Alpha Matte’ and problem solved!

April 16, 2009 at 1:40 am in reply to: image won’t show up under another keyed green screen imageHello Mr. Stuart Elith. Sorry for the confusion but it seems that you’ve summarized two separate problems I’m having into one issue. The problem I had with overlaying keyed footage on top of each other has been solved. Mr. Camp suggested that I apply the keying effects directly to the footage instead of an adjustment layer.
The problem I’m still having that needs resolving has to do with trying to get a rendered mask to match a plate in terms of colors/exposure/looks. I’m guessing that your suggestions still stand regardless of whether I’m working with a masked or keyed footage. Here’s the link to the problem at hand:

Thanks for your input Mr. Stuart Elith and should you have any other suggestions I’m definitely all for it!

Thanks for your input Mr. David LaRonde. So the solution to the issue was that I was rendering out lossless w/alpha UNMATTED instead of MATTED. That was it!
Now that I have the rendered mask, I’m having issues with it being darker than the clean plate I put it on. I’ve tried adjusting levels with no success. Would you happen to know if there’s a trick to getting a mask to blend seamlessly with a clean plate? Or is this issue just a matter of continuously tweaking the levels until I get it right?
Thanks in advance!

April 15, 2009 at 11:39 pm in reply to: image won’t show up under another keyed green screen imageOne last thing…sorry but you probably guessed by now that I’m a newbie to this. So I’ve put the rendered mask onto a clean plate but the mask appears darker than the plate. I’ve tried color correcting and adjusting levels but can’t seem to get the shades of the mask and plate to match. Is this a matter of just continually messing with levels and/or color correcting until I get it right? Or is there a trick to this?
Thanks in advance!

April 15, 2009 at 11:08 pm in reply to: image won’t show up under another keyed green screen imageI believe Mr. Kevin Camp that you just helped me figure out what I was doing incorrectly. You see I’ve been rendering lossless with alpha UNMATTED. So I just rendered out lossless with alpha MATTED and that did the trick!
2 for 2 for you today Mr. Kevin Camp! You are simply amazing and thank you again for everything!

Hey Mr. Kevin Camp would you be so kind as to give me your input on my other problem I have posted at the link below?

At one point I thought that I had enabled Rotobezier, but I didn’t.
