If it works all you’ll record is a replica of exactly what you see in you camera viewfinder, it is not a clean output.

High quality stills, definitely the 5D.

What you have here is the most important element for making a good film, a great little script. When I first clicked on the link I thought “Can I watch 24 minutes online?”, but I did and it kept my attention right to the end and I loved it.
There’s a few little things, wrong eyeline in the coffee ordering scene and some odd choices of focus at times (always difficult on a 5D), but generally very very good. You’ve obviously planned the shooting thoroughly, it’s been well shot and care has been taken to ensure often neglected such like audio are of a high standard.
The reality is you could have shot this story on any camera, edited on any software and it would have still turned out a great little film because it has the most important essential, a good story.
Well done.

The issue is caused by the iTunes upgrade to v10.5, even on Snow Leopard.
It will also occur if your alternative FCP Quicktime 7.6 upgrades to higher version (7.7).
The reality is the only reliable solution is a complete system re-install you can’t fix the problem by deleting and then re-installing an older version of either app.
Re-installing FCP, Adobe Premier etc won’t resolve the issue it’s a system problem.
The Digital Rebellion / Pacifist fix will get the files playing again but I ended up with major problems in Compressor (no audio on conversions) and a few other funnies that I didn’t bother going deeply into.
Re-install OS 10.6, upgrade the Snow Leopard OS, do not allow iTunes or Quicktime to upgrade. Then “freeze” the system upgrades until when and if there is a fix. Do not buy an iPhone or install the latest iOS5 system upgrade on your iPhone, if you control it from the same computer, as this requires iTunes 10.5 to be installed.
Apple are probably more concerned about battery / software issues with the new iPhone at the moment than a solution for professional users of their FCS software.
Recording on the DR-100 drive as m2t files and then using Clipwrap 2 to rewrap as HDV or ProRes works, but will not solve the issue that like me you may have up 5 years of archived video you can’t use without booting from an older system drive. Clipwrap is an excellent app, that’s very fast and will convert your media to ProRes SQ in faster than realtime.
Regret now upgrading from 10.5 a year ago, been a year of issues, after 7 years of virtually no problems at all.

Probably occurred shooting under fluorescent lighting. The shutter speed or frame rate of the camera is out of sync with light power.
In countries that use PAL electricity is usually 50Hz and shutter speed should be 1/50th. In countries that use NTSC it is 60Hz and cameras should at 60fps or use a shutter speed of 1/60th.

Faulty HDMI port on the camera or the monitor. (As you’ve changed the cable, unless the second cable is also faulty).

I’m using the Konova. It’s very sturdy and runs on bearings, so very smooth but very “free wheeling”. Build is good quality and simple design that’s easy to set up.
Comes with a good compact soft case, adjustment tools kit, and feet. I ordered side slide mounts which enable it to be mounted on an angle between lighting stands. Very happy with it.
As I’m in Australia I ordered it direct from Korea, (Amazon won’t deliver some items to Australia) it arrived 4 days after ordering and freight was included in the price.

Were these recorded on a Firestore Drive?
If so read this https://www.focusinfo.com/dynassets/documents/downloads/MACOSX_Supp_Anncmt_10.21.11.pdf
I tried the Digital Rebellion solution it enabled the playing of the HDV files but it broke other functions, one of which Compressor not outputting audio on conversions.
