Drag your mouse through the font list in the HUD – it will do exactly that

November 25, 2008 at 5:46 pm in reply to: FCP Digibeta project going to 16×9 DVD

Hang on, you want the best quality?

Capture & edit in 4:3, make a 4:3 asset in DVDSP

You can edit in 16:9, so capture in 4:3, edit in a 16:9 timeline and readjust the clips so you don’t cut anybodys head off etc. Then make the exported movie of this timeline a 16:9 asset in DVDSP

Now the problem is that if somebody watches in 4:3 they will be looking at a cutout of a cutout and the picture quality won’t be that great 🙂

Wouldn’t that be 10 hours of black???

OK, I know this has been said before by me and others but worth a repetition.

I was told the apocryphal story about why in the UK things start at 10:00:00 – because the BBC VT guys got into work just before ten and used time of day timecode to start blacking before nipping off for breakfast in the BBC canteen.

I’d go for the story about not wanting to roll back past 00:00:00 so the audio decks would go the right way myself

Yes that is what we do here in England, but I take it the guy is in the US and they like to do it differently there, so listen to Shane.

BTW I always put 1 second of prevision on too as things are still rolled in manually 🙂

Beta SP has a narrower picture than a 4:3 digital format hence the black lines.
It has always been like that. Not to mention the dropouts 🙂
