I’m glad to finally find some editors who share my big frustration with Premiere Pro. It’s not a heavy feature to implement, I don’t understand why Adobe doesn’t want to hear about it, I’ve been wasting my time synchronising elements in the timeline and using sequences as clips.

I asked several times Adobe for this feature since Premiere Pro 1.0 …

Hope they will release the option in CS5.

I have the same problem here.

Does anyone have an issue? Seems you can’t export via firewire the 4:2:2 stream.

What I did is to export my timeline to Microsoft DV, then open an Adobe DV Project, import the file, and exporting to firewire.

  • After 2 days of work, I can say it’s much more stable now I’m on a clean system. I had a couple of crash in Premiere Pro yesterday, but none today! Still After Effects crashed five or six time, every times with the same error: 0-42. It while I was RAM previewing, and also when I changed the preview mode from Blackmagic to Firewire.

Notice I have a P4P800 motherboard with a soundmax sound chipset integrated.

Is the new drivers already compatible with Ppro 2.0? Are they more stables than previous ones? I wondered if the crashes didn’t come from the data rate of the 4:2:2 files. Maybe sometimes the card (or the drive, or the system) can’t sustend the rate.

Also my card is on a simple PCI slot, not on PCI-X like it’s meant to be… does that make a performance and/or stability difference.

    Thanks Andrew for your intervention.

  • Hi guys,

Having the same problem than you, I’d like to share my experience.

Tired of the bugs (every 10 mns in Premiere Pro, every 40mns in After Effects), I reinstalled my system.

I’m trying for now, without any internet connection, antivirus, the most clean system, on SP1. I’ll let you know if it goes better.

I have an ATI Radeon, so the Geforce card is not the problem.

    I have a Asus P4P800 card, 2Go ram, 2.8Ghz Pentium IV.

2 disks Maxtor striped in RAID 1.

And as others, I can’t install 5.3.1 drivers.

    I’ll try 5.1.2 (I’m on 5.2.2 for now), maybe it’s more stable.

    Good luck to all,

    Mark.
