I agree. Phones are ALWAYS horrible a,d cell phones even worse.
Google IpDTL. This would sit on your broadband connection and give high quality audio that the stations would love you for.

It sounds like front end distortion to me – ie the audios higher transients are clipping on front end electronics such as the input to a mixer or recorder. That wont necessarily result in a loud recording as the electronics are being overloaded, but the recording level can be waay down.
I would say that Id expect headphone monitoring at the time of recording to have showed it up. Were you monitoring ?

Additionally to the quality / cost of the mic, if the electronics that you plug it into arent of a high enough standard this can often result in poor sonic quality. I find DSLR camera suffer from this often.

I had a bit of handling noise on a pole once and found 2 soulutions eliminated it (both to be used at once.

    1) Go to your local sports shop, buy a neoprene yoga mat and wrap it round the handle and secure. I did it twice round.
    2) Dont adjust your grip during a take.

  • Id say not.
But also if you were supposed to be able to do that, youd either have been supplied with an inst track or youd have the mutlitrack and could remixit. The owners of the work havent designed it so you can do this.

youre using 2 mono mics . the recorder will record it as 1 x stereo wav fle. you will need (if yours has the right software installed) to be abe to adjust record levels for each mic separately. The recording isnt in stereo but dual mono tied in a single file.
have a good play beforehand so know your workflow is ok and import into your nle too. then unlink the legs so you can edit separately.

I have been in tv studios for 29 years and can confirm that i Have NEVER and will NEVER record a VO in stereo – for a whole raft of good reasons.
Record it mono – position it centre and then do whatever you will re processing / FX
