I was rendering a 28 minute video last night. It stopped rendering at 58 percent. I saw this thread last time it happened and I found my computers video card settings had changed so the fan speed was back to default.

I have the RX480 card, and it has software to allow me to control the fan speed on the video card. I had previously had these freezes and I upped the fan speed from the default of 780rpm to over 3000rpm. It worked then. On last night’s render, it froze again. I checked the Global Wattman (the name of he software that came with the RX480) and it indeed had gone back to default fan speed. I set it back to manual and upped the fan speed to over 3000 rpm again, rebooted the computer and started my render again. It went thru with flying colors.

I don’t know why it reverted back to default settings, and I was really annoyed when I found the render had stopped this morning again. But making the video card run cooler allowed the render to go back to normal. I don’t know if this will help you, but I figured I would share it. I also try and do a “spring cleaning” every year and clean out my computer’s insides and I haven’t done that yet this year. Will have to get on that too ☺

I have been having the same problems with Vegas Pro 14. Depending on what video card you have (or maybe it doesn’t matter) I was able to bump up the fan speed (Radeon RX 480 video card) and put a small fan to blow on the computer.

Because it would just stop like you said, I had the thought it was heat related. I may be wrong, but on the third try with the fan on the video card at +3000rpm and an external room fan blowing fresh air supply to the computer case it make it thru. My video was over 20 minutes long. I also never had this problem before and have been using Vegas since version 11.

I have learned I need a back-up, or another possible program since I need to make quite a few videos and have started to learn DiVinci free version. It is a tough change, and Vegas just does things so much easier, but I don’t see a lot of “spark” or even communication from the company about the future of Vegas. They stay totally silent, and that makes my uncomfortable.
