Please see the reply on the BMD forum.

  • Elger Sio is correct and this was a key consideration in earlier Macs and earlier versions of Resolve. Its less of an issue now. Remember the 2008 MacPro need a 4Ch config and when the ’09 came out we were still a 32 bit app so getting high speed access to the 3Ch memory was important.

I doubt you will encounter any issue running 64GB on the new OS and Resolve 9.

  • You would need to change the boot drive and dongle and as Juan mentioned, have a board config that worked for both… whats the application that would need this?

  • My guess, the q4000 is not powerful enough. If fine as a UI GPU, underpowered though for image processing and significantly for interlace processing.

  • Sounds like you’re system is not able to process interlace. It’s very GPU hungry. Please tell us the details of your hardware and software and OS.

You can try using ColorTrace to import your grades into the new Project. There is a section in the manual that describes the steps.

The 690 has more cores and is seen as two GPUs by Resolve, but the 680 with 4GB ram is a good card and you are likely to get even better performance than the 690 from soon to ship new GPUs so if you dont need to change this month, just wait a little longer.

First, don’t uninstall and reinstall at the first sign of a problem, especially as you say everything else is working. It’s likely an operational issue.

You say you cant see the power window outline. I presume on the UI monitor. The Outline has three modes, off, on for UI and on for UI and grading monitor. Go to the ‘View’ menu and select Window Outline and select off then on.

You should also try, go to any clip, make a new version, on the new version right click on the node editor and select ‘Reset All grades and Nodes’ and then add a new window.

Another test would be to start a new project and see if the same issue exists.

Set the timeline to HD, to match your monitor. This will help your speed while grading too. If you need to render at 4k, reset the timeline res prior to render.

  • When its on, it’s just like you reaching for the save button on the panels and pushing with your finger…. The same physical project file gets an incremental update.

Saving to a backup project saves a complete new file, which then becomes the default for the next save……
