Thanks for the great info. I looked at this support note and not sure if it applies. The board we have has a different chipset (X79). Also when I built the system I had installed the latest BIOS from Asus.

I will try without the Decklink card. I’m just surprised that a 1x PCI card could cause the system to slow down that much.

Thanks. Yeah I can’t get half res good to play realtime. I think something is setup wrong? I would be surprised that the decklink card could be causing the problem.. but maybe? Could the board be running out of PCI lanes? Here is what I have:

Windows 7 SP1 64bit
ASUS P9X79 WS board
Intel i7-3930k
Resolve Lite 8.2.1 beta 3
16GB DDR3-1600 ram
1000W Cooler Master PSU
Nvidia Quadro 600
Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 3gb
Decklink Studio 2
Internal Hardware RAID 0 (using Disk Speed Test I get Write 285 MB/sec and Read 270 MB/sec)

Any ideas why I can’t get realtime playback? When I put in the RED rocket I had it in the last x8 PCI slot. In REDCINE-X the footage plays back realtime in full quality.. which is weird.

Hi Pepijn,

Question about your system. I have built a similar system and am not getting good performance. What type of footage have you played, and are you getting realtime? I have been playing RED Epic footage and can’t get realtime (with or without a red rocket). I’ve tried all the RED debayer settings and still can’t get 24fps.

I do have a Decklink Studio card in the system.. could that really cause any problems? Does it really matter what card is in what slot (As long as the Nvidia cards are in the x16 slots)?

If you have any ideas it would be very helpful. I am trying to do more testing to see what could be causing the system to only give me like 15-20fps playback (with 1 node of color correction).

Firewall is actually turned off entirely. Still not working for me. I tried a different ethernet switch to connect everything and still nothing.

Any other things I could be missing?

Ok good idea. I think the network is set to ‘work’ (whatever that actually means). I’ll check to see if the firewall could be blocking the port.

Hi guys,

I did setup the ip and port in Resolve and restarted the software (all after seting it up in the JL Cooper and restarting it).

I’m on a Windows machine actually (if it matters). I did try to connect to the PC but the PC didn’t seem to give it an IP. I did read that I think it needs a cross-over cable for that type of setup, and I don’t have one of those cables at this point.

I have setup a JL Cooper with a router (well an ethernet switch actually) and it seemed easier. I wonder what I could be missing. Does the setting in the JL Cooper actually set the IP address, or do I need to enter what the JL Cooper is actually getting assigned from the router?

Yeah I have gone into that JL Cooper menu (yeah it is ‘shift’ + ‘assign’) and entered that IP info into Resolve. When that didn’t work, I tried alternate IP addresses (and entered that info into the Resolve Preference box).

I have left it on the default port and also tried other ones. I have matched the Gateway and subnet mask to the same numbers my computer is set to.

The resolve is still not ‘seeing’ the panel. Any other tricks? Next was to try JL Cooper or Blackmagic to see if they have any ideas.

Might I suggest posting this in the Davinci config forum (I think this question was why they wanted to split the forums into 2.. one for config questions and one for usage questions).

Did you read the Config manual that is on the Blackmagic website?

Thanks Rohit! I will check to see which PCI-E slots are indepdent.

Can you comment regarding the nvidia drivers? The config guide talks about the GeForce GPU driver, but what about my Quadro GUI card? Should I use the latest nvidia driver for that one?

Second follow up question. I know I need the Nvidia 280.26 driver for the GeForce GPU card. Does that same driver work for my GUI card (Nvidia Quadro 600)? Or do I need another driver for that card?
