Thanks for all the explanations. I was wondering the advantage of making a ref movie. Kyle also explained why I have the MPEG2 option on my system.

    Cheers…

Correct. I’m using FireWire drives. For the most part, quite reliable. This was an especially complex and long sequence but the work around worked, especially when I transferred the QT movie to my internal HD and recorded to tape from that. No issues.

    Thanks for all the info!

Thanks, Don. I figured that’s what you meant, already did it, and it worked perfectly. Much appreciated.

Do you mean to export the sequence as a self-contained QT movie?

Thanks guys. I thought there might not be a post fix. And, I figured the cause was something to do with the NTSC vrs. foreign electricity, etc. Thanks, also, for suggesting how to fix it the next time.

For this piece, I’ll live with the look. At least the flicker fits with the setting: a somewhat run down hospital room in a low-income district of Bombay.

Thanks for the info, Bill. At least I’m not the only one, and it’s not a big deal, really.

    Paul,

While running FCPHD (v.4) I added 1GB of ram, updated to Tiger and encountered the same problem. Same symptoms as yours. Then I installed FCPStudio(5.0.1) hoping it would solve it. It has not.

Unfortunately, I did not inadvertently switch the machine to PAL as your other respondent had.

I’m stumped. (And frustrated.) Have you solved your problem?

    Pete
