You have to keep the original folder structure as it was created by red to be able to see them appear. It works perfect for me in fcs 3 log and transfer tool with the red r3d footage.

Also in after effects you can use a plugin called soundkeys, from trapcode. With this you can link the amplitude of your music to, for example, the scale parameter of your image.

Im not sure about fcp, but avid gives you the choice to batch import instead of capture. Maybe fcp does this as well?
