    Hi Peter,

I think your understanding is right, at least, that’s how I would interprete it as well. But Asus should be able to give you a real answer.

What is also a good question is how big the performance change is when using 8 lanes instead of 16. I think I once read that it wasn’t such a big deal, but I’m definitely not shure.

The only thing I know is that Im very curious how your results will be. Maybe you can partipate in one of the benchmark posts from last week, posted in the Davinci basics and configuration forum.

    Good luck!

From what I read on the asus site, you cannot fit all those cards and have them running at their max bandwidth. It says: 4 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (dual x16 or x16/x8/x8 or quad x8, black+blue)

So I guess that means that when you plug more then 2 cards, only one card will get the 16 lanes and the other two 8.

Go to the prem pro app and choose ‘show package contents’. Find a text file with ‘cuda cards’ in its name. Open it and add your card to the list, exactly like the cards described there already. Save. Viola!

I never tried color trace, but I do work with the still galleries and I find them very easy to work with. Hint, in your previous project you can ‘grab all stills from first/middle frame’ which will load a still for every shot in your timeline. In the gallery page of your new project these are accessible.

Haha, it’s quite a funny way of describing things.

My system, PC/Hackintosh, X79 chipset, i7 3930, 32 GB ram, GTX 580 and GTX 560 Ti was around 2.000 euros. So that will be 166,- euro per blur node!

I agree, totally. Although this test for me was to see what various configurations can do and how they compare to my own build. More a pure technical research.

Could be interesting to measure the cost per blur node or something like that….
