    Hi AlphaChannel,

What shape is the equipment in? Does it have any accessory cards… could you name which ones?

How many hours does the video playback head of the Digital Betacam Deck have and how many hours has the machine been on? What are the model numbers of the equipment. When was it purchased? Are you guys the original purchaser or is it second hand equipment. What’s the manufacturing date?

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/ is a fine place to sell your used stuff.

    Hi,

Your equipment is located in what country and city? This will help us know who to suggest.

    It’s true,

Videography Magazine had suggested that putting your tripod into a golf bag, the type that has a hard shell inside is the cheapest, safest way to ship your tripod on an airplane.

  • Hi Juan,

Could you kindly explain to us how the 60p images were played back? I understand new SRW-1’s record 60p, but can’t playback at 60p, so how did you guys playback the 60p sequences at NAB? Also, was this 4:2:2 Y/Cb/Cr video or 4:4:4 RGB video? (IF RGB 4:4:4, was it linear or log?)

    Regards,
    Paul

    Hi Tony,

You are correct. The SRW-1 recorder requires that the SRPC-1 HD video processor be attached to the SRW-1 when used with non Sony F-23 / Panavision Genesis camera heads.

OK, so maybe Sony was not to precise when they wrote “The Worlds Only recorder capable of RGB4:4:4 1080/60P recording.” They probably should have written:

“The Worlds Only 12v(60W), lightweight(5.9Kg/13lb), recorder capable of RGB 4:4:4 full 1080 x 1920 /1P to 60P fps / 2:1 compression (25 minutes per tape) / 10-bit linear recording plus motion software that mimics the Arriflex speed change ramp software.”

“All that plus a bag of potato Chips…, uh I meant Sony chips”

At the moment the price for the F-23 camera head has not been announced, BUT, the SRW1 HD Portable Digital Recorder has a list price of USD $52500 in the United States.

April 27, 2007 at 10:39 pm in reply to: Calibrating Color From Tape Footage, Setup?

    Hi Nick,

This is the best way to do this.

    1. The video MUST be output and captured into your computer via SDI as uncompressed 10-bit video.

    2. So, if you have anything between the tape deck and your computer that is not SDI, abandon it, make it disappear, give it away to the Salvation Army…

    3. Capturing the video via SDI has two great advantages:
    a) the color will be an exact copy of what’s on tape.
    b) the audio levels will be an exact copy of what’s on tape.

Digital Betacam players have knobs that allow you to increase or lower the saturation, lift or lower the pedestal and lift or lower the luma level. It is possible to set the knobs to their default settings, which would allow you to capture an exact copy of what’s on tape.

My suggestion is that you also use a waveform monitor and vectorscope connected to the player when you capture video. This is a great way to make sure all is well while you capture.
