also try blowing out the insides with a can of air. last time I did this a half a dozen tiny strips of dv tape came blowing out! partially shredded masters over the years? this is a consumer format after all…

yeah kind of tough to get to the heads, possible though. these decks can be a little touchy. great product for the price, but if you can’t get it to work you’ll have to send it in. try playing another tape, recording and playing a tape etc. many times, it’s just a client tape that just won’t play…

we’ve got 3 pioneer dvd recorders, and they do make the cheeseball menus, but do not assign them as “first play”. program plays first and you only get the menu page if you select menu on the remote…plus you have a choice of menus and can select a clean one without a wedding video motif.

it’s where you told it to be….
usually the same place as your capture scratch folder.
but yes you will have to re render all : (

haven’t even heard of the cinetals.

point taken. we are considering moving from BMD to kona and this is just another nail in the coffin. we have noticed almost NO participation from the decklink support guys on the forums lately. it used to be “busy getting ready for the next driver/tech show” but now it’s just crickets…
hope they’re not going the way of aurora.
good guys, but without apple support not much chance of survival.

just one of those wonderful fcp things. i sometimes put a slug on a track above the whole sequence and then remove it to force render it all again. but check it carefully after. ghost files sometimes pop up. sometimes deleting the video render folder on the scratch disk is the only way…it’s the tradeoff of a system that costs a small fraction of the big names.
