  • Any solve on this? It’s been happening on AE on several machines for me over a number of versions for years and it’s getting a little old!

  • That’s really unusual re: OpenGL not working with Premiere. I’m on a 5k iMac now and it purrs like a kitten – beautiful workstation actually. Using Premiere 2015.0, but OpenGL has worked since CS6 from memory.

Success! The endless conforming and disappearing audio has gone!

One or all of a combination of the following appears to have helped fix the issues:

    * Synced the time on the shared network storage drive with the Macs
    * Trashed the PP preferences
    * Shifted the projects from a shared local drive to the system drive (default PP location)

We’re still working with media stored on the shared network drive but now all the projects are kept on the system drives of the local machines.

I’m pretty chuffed it’s fixed – I have to say coming from FCP 7 there are a range of features I’m really loving, such as the lack of transcoding, good real-time playback, enhanced bezier functionality of keyframes, AE, AME and Audition integration. Thanks for the support above.

Thank you for the responses. I’ve run the test working off local media and gotten the following two results:

    1) Copied media from network drive to local drive, imported local media into new project: no issues whatsoever. PP conformed one, then functioned perfectly.

    2) Copied same media from network drive to local drive, copied network project we are having issues with to local drive, disconnected from network drive and reconnected to local media: same issues of disappearing audio and endless reconforming.

My media settings are as follows:
    Checked ‘Save next to originals’
Media Cache set to local drive
Everything else unchecked (was previously checked with same results)
Scratch disks are set to local drive

Anyone know why I’m still having the issues in the second scenario?

    Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the response. I wasn’t aware of the script-to-text function – that’s very cool indeed! I’ve been rerunning tests on the speech analysis this morning and I have found the latest International English library more accurate than the last tests we ran with CS5. I get about 30-50% accuracy. However, there were enough errors in the automated analysis model to make picking through it a time consuming and clunky process. On the tests this morning I found it took about 5 times at long to accurately transcribe a 1 minute clip using the speech analysis technique versus the old fashioned way of playing the clip and typing what I hear.

Regarding my question, I think I’ve just found the answer. I was hoping to play a clip whilst typing a title, which doesn’t seem to be possible within Premiere. I can however play a clip and type externally using Text Edit, which will do the trick just fine.

    Cheers,
    Paul

Thanks for the responses everyone. Sounds like MC will do the job perfectly. Plus the FCP discount sweetens the deal..

    Hi Paul,

This doesn’t directly relate to your situation, but we were having similar issues with our PC ultrascope box. From the day the system arrived it had similar playback issues to what you’ve been experiencing – 2-3 second lag with picture and steppy playback far from realtime (like 5 fps).

After a lot of back and forth with the local distributors the problem was isolated down to the latest graphics drivers that the system came with. The 4650 card was running 11.x drivers. We completely uninstalled these and reinstalled v10.2 drivers and the machine now works perfectly.

Not sure if that relates to your situation with a Mac but it could be worth a shot. Call your distributor to confirm which version of drivers the card is supposed to work with.

    Cheers
