Same issue here. Unbelievably irritating. Going to go back to 2022 version for my new projects. Completely unusable.

    Tried both ways. Same results.

I meant opening the 2022 project using 2023. Haven’t tried the Media Browser import option since, well, I’ve never needed it. I’ve always dragged-and-dropped, or opened files using apple-O. I will test that out and see if there’s a difference.

As for audio compatibility, the files that were giving me the most issues were stock music files. Standard WAV files. Should be a breeze for 2023; especially since they work perfectly in 2022.

I’ve had to go back to 2022 on a lot of these projects for now due to lack of confidence in 2023…

Ok I got it working. Not entirely sure how, but this is what I did:

I had previously set up an ‘aggregate device’ setting in OS/Setting?Sound. This AD included the external mic.

So in Premiere/Prefs/Audio Hardware, I toggled the input audio from the Ext Mic, to the Aggregate Device; then toggled to anything else, then toggled back to Ext Mic.

This did it. Again, not sure why. But it all works now. Hope that info helps someone.

That’s what I think. I was hoping to avoid re-install. There must be a way to force Mac to allow this to happen. The mic settings were automatically set to the external mic: I selected ‘import preferences’ when I installed it. That’s likely where the problem occured as I never saw a prompt for security…

  • Thanks – will do. Are they quiet, and can you hot-swap a drive in JBOD format?

  • Right – I knew about the Pegasus option… was hoping to avoid having to buy a second box.
Still looking for a way to make my current 5,1 the drive enclosure.
