I’ve just tried that driver fix and it works!!

Thanks very much! I had no idea that was the problem, I had just always assumed that the delay was caused by the conversion from digital to analogue.

    Thanks again

    Hi,

the canopus mentioned is an advc-100. By delay i meant the delay you get from anything firewire, audio and visual are about 1 or 2 seconds behind. The same as when you capture, the pc shows the video a second or 2 behind the cam or deck.

Will that fix on your website make the canopus output perfectly in sync with my desktop? I had never heard of such a fix.

    Thanks

    Paul

    Hi
    Thanks for the speedy reply.

So is there no way at all to get a realtime preview for SD? I once did a hdv program on a different pc and got it so i assumed it worked for sd too.

This seems a bit ridiculous. I have a canopus but i cant work with that stupid delay. So there really is no wya to get realtime playback?

    Thanks

    Hi there,

I thought I would chip in as you wanted to find out about a MyBook. I bought a 500GB MyBook, Pro i think it was (its got firewire). I use it as my main media drive now as I often have to take my laptop with me to a clients hq.
So far it has performed well with various DV projects. Its got about 7 on it at the moment. The fact that it switches on and off with the computer is for me a really good touch. It will also power down if it hasnt been used for a while, it will stay connected etc but just not spin until you use it again. Its a great feature to hopefully increase its life and it only takes acouple of seconds to power up again.

Only problem i’ve had is with a large HDV project (60mb proj file but 160GB work files). Towards the end it would take a long time for the project to load then when you were in, if you clicked out of premiere and back in it would sort of load up again. I’m not sure if that was partly to do with premiere or just the fact that the project had got so big. If someone could shed some light on that it would be nice.

I have heard too many horror stories about Lacie’s to consider buying one and the Mybook has been pretty faithful.

    Hope that helps

    HI,

im not so worried about dvd right now, its putting it onto tape thats worries me. I have done the right click and “always deinterlace” but it doesnt seem to make any difference to it. is this just because its native and the monitor is showing it?

it needs to be layed back onto hdv and the DP wants it to be deinterlaced first.

    any suggestions?
