When using Nucleo Pro 2, we have some guidelines that we suggest for making your settings optimal:

1) 2GB RAM for each instance
2) Not more instances than you have processors

So, with 6GB of RAM, you should limit your processes to 3 to make the most out of your rendering.

I may be a bit biased, but it reads like Scott is severely underestimating what a time-saver background rendering can be. When your performance level is set to Normal, Nucleo Pro 2 will make sure that it’s using optimal CPU power, but will always give priority to other applications. This means that you can work as normal while your renders are going on, without anything else slowing down.

While CS3 and above will support multi-core processing with virtually the same efficiency as Nucleo Pro 2, spec rendering and background rendering are huge time savers. It’s a great way to boost productivity and workflow.
