Again, thank you. I am sure you both hear it often, but we are grateful for your time and advice. The files are avchd 1080i (1920×1080) converted to pro-res in final cut pro (studio 2). You can be certain that I have printed this off and will save it for future use as well as share it with friends. I am very new to AE and figured it was me. It mostly was, but it does appear that there are some tips to operate it more effectively.
I will be trying this out this evening for sure. I wish I could right now. I just need to change my mindset from how I work with Motion. Thank you again for your time.

Kevin and Dave. Thank you so much. I really appreciate your insight. I have a mac pro with 12gb of ram and its an 8 core. I thought it was supposed to be real time. Do I need to diable the “open gl” as well? And do you recommend I change something in preferences to get better performance. Again, I cant thank you enough. Your community of experts is impressive. I am working with 1080i footage.
