This appears to be an ongoing bug with FCP. I just got around it by dragging all the offline files and sequences into a new sequence. then highlight the entire sequence and choose export xml from the file pull down menu. Save the new file when prompted, open it, reconnect all the media in one shot. I think you lose transitions in the sequences but everything else seemed to work well.

Yeah. The source video/audio is from an HD video camera. The audio source is 48khz and compression settings are set to sample 44khz. If this is the problem I suppose I could export from Final Cut with the audio set to 44. Any thoughts? Thanks for the help so far.

Yup. Totally correct. That was my compression ignorance talking. f4v is using MainConcept H.264 codec for video and aac for audio. When using flv I have been using mp3. For f4v my options are aac, aac + version 1, aac + version 2. After a little research I believe just the aac, which is the default choice, is adequate for the dialogue in my source video. Any thought on why it might be giving me the echo? My source is a stereo track. I tried compressing to a mono and stereo output with the same echoey results.
